About us

Our History

Born out of the flow of Charismatic Renewal and love to obey and follow our Lord Jesus; The Good News Church began in 1982.

We could no longer compromise our conscience or fit into a denomination that ‘expected the Holy Spirit to work only within its structures and traditions’.

We originally met in the Senior Citizens' Hall on Roe Street, but moved across the road to the Silk Heritage Centre when it reopened.

We still meet at the Heritage Centre, which means that we do not own a church building.  This has proved a great blessing over the years as it has allowed us to support other ministries and churches (particularly abroad) because we don't have the encumberance of a building to finance.  However, we are open to God to give us a building should He lead us in that direction.

We are very grateful to God for the numerous people - too many to name - who have previously and currently served the Lord as elders, leaders and members of our church.
